In the Province of Ravenna, pupils in the first cycle who are not Italian citizens exceed 21%, with peaks of over 60% in marginal areas such as Darsena, Lido Adriano and Alfonsine (MIUR, 2024). These areas are highly vulnerable socially, with a risk of exclusion and educational poverty.

The younger generations, particularly minors with a migrant background, face linguistic, economic and relational barriers that hinder their full participation in school and cultural life. It is therefore a priority to provide free, continuous and inclusive educational support that promotes social cohesion and active citizenship.

What the project involves

The initiative uses music as an educational and relational tool to combat isolation and educational poverty. Among the main outputs are school workshops, afternoon activities, a publication with an original CD, and the creation of digital content to support cultural dissemination.

In the 2024/2025 school year, it involved six classes from the “Darsena” and “Del Mare” comprehensive schools and over 30 participants in afternoon activities, for a total of 200 hours of school workshops and 500 hours of individual and group lessons. The programme culminated in a public concert and the production of a book with an original audio CD, also published on a dedicated YouTube channel.

The key principles of the initiative are accessibility, continuity, free access, inclusion and active participation. The project promotes integrated forms of expression, values cultural differences and supports collective growth, strengthening the educational pact between schools, families and the local community.

The beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are 115 minors: 80 students from the participating school classes and 35 participants in extracurricular musical activities. The indirect beneficiaries are approximately 600 people, including family members, school staff, educational operators, event audiences and users of multimedia content.

TaDaDaDan! generates a measurable educational and social impact: it strengthens school participation, develops expressive and relational skills, and promotes inclusion and social cohesion. Among the main outputs are 240 hours of school workshops, 600 hours of afternoon activities, a publication with an original CD, and the creation of digital content to support cultural dissemination.

ASD Snakes Milano involves kids aged between 11 and 16 in Powerchair Football. Recently founded, the ASD also aims to become a reference point for the families of these children, concretely supporting them in their caregiving activities.

What the project involves

With the number of team members increasing, a van must be purchased for transporting all the competition wheelchairs without burdening the families in terms of costs and logistics. With this project, #Run4Emma & friends wants to take on the expense so that athletes can cultivate their sports passion.

Expected Outcomes

  • Encouraging the growth and socialisation of these kids by facing challenges and respecting rules
  • Supporting parents in managing travel and complicated logistics at trainings and competitions
  • Experiencing the wheelchair no longer as a tool to be feared but as a valuable means to be independent
  • Promoting sport among children and young people with disabilities
  • Promoting social inclusion

The beneficiaries

The project will help the seven athletes of Snakes Milano and all future members of the team. They will be allowed to cultivate their passion without further burdening their parents, who are already very busy in their role as caregivers and who are the indirect beneficiaries of the initiative.
