In Chile, the non-profit sector is constantly evolving.

In recent years, the number of social organisations has grown by an average of 10.8% per year (UC Public Policy Centre, 2024). However, many of these organisations, especially those that have been established recently, are struggling to survive: over 55% of organisations established in 2020 will have ceased operations by 2023.

This scenario paints a picture of a dynamic but fragile sector that needs training and concrete tools to ensure stability, sustainability and continuity of services for the most vulnerable people.

What the project involves

For 29 years, Corporación Simón de Cirene has been supporting social organisations with training programmes, consulting and publications. With this project, it intends to strengthen its intervention by offering a package of management courses specifically designed for non-profit organisations.

The courses, available online and in person, cover crucial topics:

  • Financing techniques
  • Management strategies
  • Formalisation and transparency
  • Evaluation of social projects
  • Leadership and best practices

The initiative includes content design and updating, dissemination of training opportunities, administrative management and monitoring of results. The aim is to strengthen around 100 social organisations, improving the quality of their services and their ability to generate lasting impact.

The beneficiaries

The project is aimed directly at directors, leaders and members of Chilean non-profit organisations, offering them practical skills and tools to grow and consolidate their organisations. The positive effects are also reflected on indirect beneficiaries: hundreds of people who, through these organisations, receive assistance, support and development opportunities.

Training leaders means strengthening the entire network of services for the most vulnerable communities.
