In the Attica area, many people with mental disorders experience conditions of isolation, aggravated by the lack of adequate transport to reach social, cultural and recreational activities. Stigma and barriers to mobility limit their participation in community life, with negative repercussions on physical and mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these difficulties, making the activation of inclusion and support pathways even more urgent.

What the project involves

The project involves the rental of a dedicated vehicle, which will guarantee safe and regular travel for users of mental health services. Thanks to this initiative, it will be possible to promote access to sports, arts, rehabilitation, socialization and leisure activities, helping to reduce isolation and promote psychosocial recovery. Planned activities include sports, music therapy and dance, art and creative workshops, social clubs, digital learning paths, educational excursions and visits.

The project is founded on the principles of human dignity, autonomy, equal accessibility and an inclusive rights-based approach.

The beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are approximately 100 users of the Society's mental health services in Attica, including residents in hostels, sheltered apartments and members of the day centre who participate in rehabilitation activities. Indirect beneficiaries will be over 250 people, including operators, assistants, partners and the wider community, who can be sensitized and involved in a process of inclusion and destigmatization.
