In Greece, 4 out of 10 women suffer violence in adulthood. In the two-year period 2024-2025 alone, 22 femicides were recorded, and 35% of cases of gender violence occurred in Thessaloniki.
The reception system has serious limitations: there are only 20 shelters with 450 beds, with stays of a maximum of 6 months which are rarely accompanied by a reintegration plan. The available resources are fragmented and insufficient to guarantee lasting paths of emancipation, leaving many women without tools to rebuild their lives and return to the community safely.
What the project involves
The project was created to fill existing gaps through a holistic, trauma-informed approach that accompanies women from immediate protection to full social inclusion.
Inclu-SHE-vity is divided into three main axes:
- direct assistance to 100 women through legal, psychological and social support;
- shechangespeak awareness campaign to raise public awareness and reduce stigma;
- network of 50 local companies that will serve as safe spaces for women at risk, creating a supportive and inclusive community.
The project is based on four key principles: resilience, community, responsibility and respect. The aim is to ensure security and dignity, build paths of autonomy and foster the reintegration of survivors as emancipated and aware citizens.
The beneficiaries
The direct beneficiaries are 100 socioeconomically vulnerable women – victims or at risk of gender-based violence – who will receive ongoing protection and support services.
The indirect beneficiaries include approximately 150 people including minor children and first-degree family members, who will be able to benefit from the positive effects of the protection and rebirth path of the women involved.
