The Centre for Research on Women's Issues Diotima operates in a socio-cultural context characterised by persistent gender-based violence and deeply rooted patriarchal norms. The recent increase in femicide in 2024 has raised awareness and demand for support services: Diotima's work involves different communities, including residents, migrants, and refugees, each with unique challenges related to gender-based violence.

What the project involves

The aim of the project is to expand and strengthen its comprehensive support services to meet the growing needs of survivors of gender-based violence: holistic care, legal advocacy, psychological support, and community outreach. It wishes to ensure culturally sensitive and inclusive services for diverse populations, including residents, migrants, and refugees.

Expected Outcomes

  • Greater empowerment and autonomy
  • Promoting stronger legal protection
  • Offering free protection services to all
  • Greater protection of the most at-risk groups

The beneficiaries

The proposed intervention aims to directly benefit approximately 5,000 women and LGBTQ+ who have survived gender-based violence. Indirectly, the intervention is expected to benefit more than 20,000 individuals, including family members, community members, and local organisations, by promoting a more supportive and aware environment, including thanks to awareness-raising campaigns.
