Asociación Nuestra Señora del Amparo Apreme operates in the rural area of Icod de Los Vinos, Tenerife. In the Canary Islands, 1 in 10 people suffer from a disability, making it the community with the second-most cases according to the INE (National Institute of Statistics). Over the past 12 years, the number of people with disabilities has increased by 14% to more than 4 million in the country.
What the project involves
The aim of the project is to improve the physical capabilities of people with vulnerabilities, preventing physical and psychological deterioration through psychomotor activities, inclusive leisure, and emotional support workshops. These activities promote the participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in the community by minimising the barriers of prejudice and stereotypes.

The beneficiaries
The project will involve 31 young adults (13 women and 18 men) with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome, learning disabilities, ADHD and epilepsy, but also with motor and sensory disabilities (deafness, visual impairment, communication disorders, cerebral palsy).
Indirectly, the project will also benefit family members and teachers, a total of 62 people.
