From September 2023, Emfasis Non-Profit aims to revitalise the community of Rizovouni with a vibrant space for cultural exchange and learning.
What the project involves
The aim of the project is to transform the flood-damaged school into a functional cultural centre, offering new life to a space cherished by the community and bringing dignity and progress to the daily lives of its elderly inhabitants. Through various events, workshops, and performances, the centre will promote creativity, engagement, and social cohesion. Elders will lead by sharing endangered traditions and customs, preserving the heritage of the area for younger generations.
Emfasis will thus promote cultural enrichment, social inclusion, and community resilience, addressing local socio-economic and environmental challenges.
Expected Outcomes
- Awakening the community and eliminating isolation
- Resilience education
- Sustainability of spaces and activities
The beneficiaries
About 500 people will directly benefit from the project: elderly community members, families, and neighbouring farmers affected by the flooding and financially vulnerable. Indirectly, more than 2,500 beneficiaries in the region will benefit from the common space, which will act as an incentive to visit the area to participate in social, cultural, and sports events, promoting a strong sense of belonging.
