The Gentlecare Project is a model of care for dementia patients based on the concept of prosthetics applied to activities and care environments, adding missing parts to enable lost functions.
What the project involves
Following the Gentlecare model, the residential care homes will be transformed from hospital-like spaces to living environments, also modifying activities and daily routines with a view to less rigidity and standardisation. The goal of the work is to understand and respond to the real needs of each individual.
Expected Outcomes
- Increased quality of care provided in residential care homes of the non-profit Casa di Dio Foundation
- Increased non-pharmacological therapies and greater customisation of care plans
- Increased occupational well-being for workers with corresponding retention and reduced turnover
- Teamwork that not only ensures greater patient satisfaction but also promotes less staff stress with operational simplification and risk reduction
The beneficiaries
The project will be implemented within the 4 residential care homes managed by Casa di Dio Onlus in Brescia, with direct effects on the 50 participants in the two scheduled training courses. The 460 residents and their family members will also enjoy the benefits of these courses, as well as all 430 employees who will be involved in the conception, procurement, set-up, and implementation of the activities
