Khalid Abaker arrived in Italy in 2017. Finding work was very difficult, mainly due to the lack of transport to take him anywhere at any time. The support of the reception centre proved decisive: thanks to a course that enabled him to obtain a driver’s licence, his professional prospects broadened.

The driver’s licence proved to be a real passport to new opportunities, allowing him to move freely and access jobs in different locations.

What the project involves

The project will generate a transformative impact by improving migrants' job prospects through obtaining a driver’s licence. This not only broadens their employment opportunities, but also increases their autonomy and independence, enabling them to actively participate in the social and economic life of the host community.

Expected Outcomes

  • Social and economic inclusion
  • Overcoming the mobility barrier to finding a job
  • Autonomy and independence of stakeholders

The beneficiaries

The project aims to directly benefit around 20 migrants living in the areas surrounding Milan by offering them the opportunity to obtain a driver's licence and improve their job prospects. This project will also have indirect benefits on the families and communities of origin, contributing to their economic and social stability.
