In San Cataldo, health prevention often arrives too late. Bringing checks and information into the places people already spend their everyday lives reaches those who otherwise undergo few health checks, promoting healthier habits through communication that is genuinely inclusive, including a LIS sign language interpreter in the project's educational activities.
The project
The project responds to three concrete needs: bringing prevention closer to residents who rarely get checked, teaching families and students healthier lifestyle habits, and making health communication more inclusive. It combines free cardiometabolic checks, blood pressure measurement and body composition assessment with risk evaluation and health education campaigns, aligned with the global goal of good health and wellbeing.
Built on early prevention, proximity, inclusion and accessibility, the project supports residents' own autonomy and awareness in making health choices, keeps every activity free and genuinely attentive to those in vulnerable situations, and is designed to be sustainable, measurable and replicable, continuing over time through the local network that supports it.
Who the project is for
The project's direct beneficiaries number at least 370 people: 250 adult citizens, with priority given to those over 55, elderly people living alone, sedentary or overweight individuals and vulnerable families, and 120 middle school students.
Its impact reaches further, to family members, teachers, general practitioners, pharmacies, local associations, volunteers and the wider community of San Cataldo, reached through the project's information and awareness activities.
