In the current context, sport represents not only a recreational and training activity, but also an educational and social tool of great value. However, economic and social difficulties prevent many people, particularly young people and fragile individuals, from accessing continuous sporting practices.
At the same time, enormous quantities of clothing and sports equipment that are still usable risk turning into waste, without generating any benefits. From these two critical issues arises the need to combine environmental sustainability and social solidarity, creating an innovative model of reuse applied to sport.
What the project involves
Rigenera Sport has developed a model based on the collection of used sports material through dedicated containers and partnerships with schools, associations and companies. The collected articles are selected, enhanced and redistributed free of charge to people and entities in difficulty, promoting a circular economy applied to sport.
The project is characterized by the strong link between the collection territory and the donation territory, with a direct impact in Emilia-Romagna, and involves a progressive expansion of the beneficiary network. The objectives are clear: to reduce waste, extend the life cycle of sporting goods, foster inclusion and protect the universal right to practice sports.
The beneficiaries
The direct beneficiaries are people in economic and social difficulty, young people and adults who could not afford sports clothing and equipment, as well as entities such as social associations and penitentiary institutions.
Indirect beneficiaries are the local communities involved, made aware of the issues of sustainability and solidarity, as well as partner schools, associations and companies that become an active part of a virtuous network of inclusion and social responsibility.
