Psychosocial suffering is growing, with an increase in depressive disorders, anxiety and isolation, particularly among over 65s, family caregivers and people with chronic pathologies. Chronic pain, present in 24% of the population, often remains unrecognized and undertreated, generating physical and psychological distress.
ISAL Foundation intervenes with an innovative and proximity approach, creating networks that intercept those who suffer early, offering listening, orientation and support in the use of treatment paths.
What the project involves
The project aims to build a network of trained volunteers, the “Sentinels”, who work in Rimini's Territorial Health Nodes to identify people with chronic pain and offer them orientation, listening and accompaniment to health and social services.
Through a telematics center and awareness campaigns, SOS promotes the culture of prevention, reduces the stigma linked to chronic pain and strengthens social participation.
The “Community of Pain and Care” is also created, a space dedicated to support, sharing and information, guaranteeing a replicable and sustainable model.
The beneficiaries
Direct beneficiaries are at least 1,000 people with chronic pain involved in orientation, awareness and support activities, approximately 30 volunteers who will become Sentinels and operators of the Territorial Health Nodes. Indirectly, the project impacts families and the local community, estimating over 2,000 people involved.
The aim is to improve access to care, boost patient well-being and empowerment, reduce isolation and strengthen local services.
