Novara is a city in the middle of urban regeneration, with a growing and increasingly diverse population. Alongside a cultural offer that keeps expanding, real gaps remain: young people, people with disabilities and second-generation citizens are still underrepresented in the city's cultural life, and emerging talent often lacks the support it needs to develop.
Strong inequalities persist in who actually gets to take part in creative and cultural processes, and with little dedicated support for emerging talent, that gap tends to widen rather than close on its own.
The project
Interazioni uses culture as a tool for inclusion and participation, turning the former Caserma Passalacqua into a space genuinely open to the community. Accessible programming sits alongside inclusive artistic production pathways, workshops, residencies and open calls, giving emerging artists and talents a real platform while strengthening social cohesion across the city.
The community is involved not only as an audience but in the creative process itself, including the regeneration of the space, helping build a stable, lasting network between cultural, educational and social organisations in the area, and making diversity a shared value rather than an afterthought.
Who the project is for
The project's direct beneficiaries are around 2,000 people: spectators, students, young artists and citizens, including at least 20 people with disabilities and 30 emerging artists and young people in fragile situations, among them second-generation young people.
Its impact reaches further, to the wider citizenship, schools and local organisations, and to everyone who goes on to use the new spaces at the Caserma Passalacqua.
