Viña del Mar is a municipality of 370,000 inhabitants which, in the event of major emergencies, also becomes an operational point of reference for the entire Fifth Region, which has over 1.5 million people.

In a context at high risk for fires, natural disasters and complex accidents, the provision of modern means and suitable materials is essential to protect the population. The arrival in 2024 of a new 1500 GPM pump unit has made it urgent to acquire instruments capable of fully exploiting its potential.

What the project involves

The project aims to complete the fitting-out of the new unit with advanced equipment to deal with emergencies of various kinds, from the local level up to the regional level. The materials required include safety equipment, devices to support operators and tools to optimize water supply and rescue operations.

In line with the motto of Compañía – “Tradition and Service” – the project enhances teamwork, communication, professionalism and social conscience, strengthening the role of the Fire Brigade as a fundamental safeguard for the community.

The beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are members of the Cuarta Compañía Bomberos de Viña del Mar, who will be able to operate with greater safety and efficiency. Indirect beneficiaries are the 370,000 inhabitants of the municipality and, in the event of major emergencies, the entire population of the Fifth Region (about 1.5 million people).

The investment in modern materials will result in a more effective protection service, increasing the resilience of the territory and the trust of citizens towards their rescuers.
