Access to housing is the main barrier standing between many young people and an independent life of their own, a reality that weighs especially heavily on those already facing social vulnerability, many with experiences of gender-based or family violence, broken relationships, unemployment, economic hardship, emotional health difficulties, or simply no support network to fall back on.

When a young person loses their housing, or has no safe environment to begin with, the risk of social exclusion, economic dependency, isolation and long-term vulnerability rises sharply. What is needed is not temporary shelter alone, but a response that builds towards real autonomy, stability and a future.

The project

The project "Una llave. Un hogar. Un futuro" gives young people access to, and support in keeping, stable housing under the Housing Led model, incorporating specialised support built on prevention, deinstitutionalisation and community connection. Individualised plans, economic support and residential and community accompaniment sit alongside legal advice, psychological care, employment orientation and training, and healthy, community-based leisure activities.

The model is built with room to grow: if this first phase works well, the project could expand into further support around health, nutrition, physical activity and cultural participation, strengthening the wider support networks that matter most for long-term autonomy.

Who the project is for

The project's direct beneficiaries are 10 young people, women and men aged 18 to 29, in situations of social exclusion, residential vulnerability or risk of homelessness, along with the people closest to them.
