Madrid is a city rich in opportunities, but also marked by profound inequalities. The Community of Madrid is home to 1.14 million young people aged between 16 and 29, with a youth unemployment rate of 18% and a school dropout rate of 10.5%. In addition, 14.1% of young people are neither in education nor employment, and 21.4% live in situations of social exclusion.

In this scenario, many young people find themselves without a stable educational path, without a family support network and without job prospects, especially those from migrant backgrounds or who have experienced violence and mental health difficulties.

Despite the employment potential of sectors such as construction and hospitality, few pathways integrate vocational training, personal guidance and ongoing support.

What the project involves

The initiative combines training, guidance and personalised support to build pathways to social and labour market inclusion.

Through three programmes (“Preparados, listos, ¡ya!”, “Itinerario de inserción sociolaboral” and “Con 'I” de Integración'), Norte Joven:

  • Offers training in skills required by the labour market
  • Develops transferable skills, autonomy and confidence in participants
  • Provides emotional and psychological support
  • Guarantees continuous individual guidance and support
  • Strengthens collaboration networks between NGOs, companies and institutions

The project is designed to generate a real and lasting impact, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting equal opportunities and dignity for every young person.

The beneficiaries

The project directly supports 20 young people aged between 16 and 29, many of whom are migrants without a family network and in highly vulnerable conditions. Indirectly, the project will involve over 100 people, including families, tutors, social organisations and employers, generating benefits for the entire community.

The programme aims to achieve concrete results: 90% of young people will have an individual plan updated every month, while 70% of students engaged in a training contract will complete the first module. Another 70% will attend the Employment Classroom and at least half of the participants will be able to start a work or training programme. All the young people involved will receive personalised support, with constant coordination between organisations and external resources to ensure comprehensive and continuous support.

Through education, support and the creation of solid networks, the project builds a real bridge towards a dignified and sustainable future for the young people of Madrid.
