Reale Foundation in Chios: support for communities affected by fires and visit to the area

Published on 29 Jan 2026

Reale Foundation stepped in to support the community on the island of Chios, which was severely affected by last summer's fires, activating its Emergency Protocol for the first time in Greece.
The intervention, carried out in collaboration with the Greek non-profit organisation Desmos and the TIMA Charitable Foundation, provided concrete support on an environmental, economic and social level.

In particular, Reale Foundation contributed to the donation of over 29 tonnes of bee feed to 70 beekeepers from the Chios Agricultural Beekeeping Cooperative, ensuring the survival of 5,846 hives during the winter months, a crucial phase for the recovery of the local ecosystem. At the same time, the Foundation supported the purchase of operational equipment and protective devices for eight groups of volunteers involved in the prevention and fighting of forest fires, belonging to the island's Civil Protection.

At the end of the emergency intervention, Reale Foundation, Desmos and Ydrogios Insurance visited Chios on 28 January 2026, meeting the beneficiaries of the project: the volunteers of the “Omikron” firefighting group and the Beekeepers' Cooperative. The visit ended with a public event at the Homerion Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Chios, attended by local institutions, the organisations involved and the media.

Virginia Antonini, General Manager & Head of International Institutional Affairs at the Reale Foundation, stated: “Reale Foundation operates based on mutuality values which guide Reale Group and is committed to delivering measurable and meaningful impact, particularly in times when local communities face significant challenges. By activating its Emergency Protocol for the first time in Greece, the Foundation is providing tangible support to the residents of Chios affected by the devastating wildfires. In partnership with Desmos, we are providing the island’s volunteer wildfire responders with essential protective gear, enabling them to continue their vital work safely, and we are supporting local beekeepers, contributing to the preservation of their beehives and safeguarding local production.”
