Heritage restoration of a Leyland fire engine

Fundación Décimo Cuarta Compañía is restoring its historic Leyland fire truck, a unique vehicle that served Santiago's fire brigades between 1963 and 1980, responding to mining accidents, river floods and major fires across the city. Preserving the truck keeps a real piece of Chile's firefighting history intact and shares it directly with the thousands of visitors, including schoolchildren, who pass through the 14th Company's historic headquarters each year, learning firsthand what volunteer service means.
