In the outermost districts of Valls, population density decreases, but economic and social urban decay increases: housing with structural deficiencies undergoing decay and abandonment, lack of public space, inadequate public facilities, and poverty.
What the project involves
The main objective of Associació Cultural L'Aleta is to generate a solid community that enables mutual support to vulnerable people. This involves: transforming degraded public spaces into lively and attractive areas; being a powerful tool for making social problems visible and denouncing them; providing an avenue for emotional expression; and allowing people to express themselves and their feelings.
Expected Outcomes
- Active participation and autonomy
- Greater inclusion and accessibility
- Promoting social cohesion and community empowerment by facilitating citizen participation
- Supporting personal and collective development
- Revitalisation of the cultural and social life of the area
The beneficiaries
The project directly targets 583 people living in the most vulnerable areas of Valls, with positive effects for the inhabitants of the city centre (3,532 people) and the members of the other agencies collaborating with the Association (approximately 2,000 people) too.
The specific target of the project is the population of Valls aged 15 years and over, which amounts to 20,796 people (IDESCAT data 2021).
