Goriano Valli is a mountain village with real landscape, historical and cultural value, yet everyday life there is made harder by a real shortage of essential services. In places like this, every community initiative, sport included, becomes a genuine safeguard against depopulation, a way of showing that even after the earthquake, people are still investing in their own future here.
The project
The project improves and makes properly usable the village's sports facilities, with particular attention to the generations who need them most: young people and older residents, who would otherwise have to travel long distances or simply give up on sport altogether. Renovating disused spaces and facilities handed back after the earthquake, not yet fully usable, restores them for genuine social use and essential community services.
The improved facilities are designed to reach beyond Goriano Valli itself, involving residents of neighbouring municipalities and extending use into the winter months too, with the longer-term ambition of establishing Vallese ASD as a genuine sporting reference point for the wider Unione dei Comuni Sirentina.
Who the project is for
The project's direct beneficiaries are Vallese ASD's roughly 400 members and the 240 residents of the municipality, joined during the summer by second-home owners and tourists.
Its impact reaches further, to residents of neighbouring municipalities who gain access to the renovated facilities as their use extends across the whole year.
